Say What You See is a free-to-try prompt-writing game on RentPrompts. You are shown an AI-generated image that was made from a hidden prompt, and your job is to write a prompt that recreates it as closely as possible. The game generates an image from your prompt, compares it with the target and gives you a similarity score from 0 to 100.
Anyone with a web browser can play, whether they are a student, designer, marketer, writer or complete beginner. Guests can try it with a limited number of free trial plays. Logging in saves your credits, joules, rank and stats, and lets you appear on the leaderboard. No installation is needed.
No. The Cadet (Easy) level uses simple scenes with one or two subjects and basic colours, so you can start by just describing what you see. The game shows you where your prompt fell short after each round, so you learn as you go.
First, pick a difficulty and, optionally, an image category. Second, study the target image and write your prompt before the timer runs out. Third, the game generates an image from your prompt. Fourth, it compares your image with the target and shows your similarity score, your joules earned and feedback on your prompt.
The game generates an image from your prompt and compares it with the target image using a CLIP vision model, which measures how visually similar two images are. That similarity is converted into a score from 0 to 100. Because the images are compared, not the wording, the subject, style, colours, lighting and composition of your prompt all affect the score.
There are three levels. Cadet (Easy) has simple scenes and a 60-second limit. Warrior (Medium) adds scene, mood and a basic style hint, with a 3-minute limit. Legend (Hard) uses artistic style, detailed composition and lighting, with a 5-minute limit. Harder levels have higher reward potential.
You can play a random mix or pick a category: nature, architecture, abstract, portrait, fantasy, art, food, people, animals, space or technology. Choosing a category lets you practise describing a particular kind of image, such as portraits or landscapes.
Joules are the RentPrompts reward currency. You earn them when your similarity score reaches a reward band for your difficulty level, and a higher score earns more. Scores below the lowest band earn none. Logged-in players also get a 1.5x joule boost for their first 10 games. The exact amounts are shown on the game page.
You can start for free. Guests get a limited number of trial plays, and new logged-in users get a starting allowance of credits, with no daily refill. Each round uses credits, and the cost depends on the difficulty you choose. When you run out, you can buy credit packs, which carry forward until used. Current costs and packs are shown on the game page.
It builds observation and descriptive language: noticing the subject, style, colour, mood, lighting and composition of an image and putting them into words. It also builds prompt specificity, working within a time limit, and the habit of refining a prompt based on feedback. It is a practice tool, not a formal qualification, and the same habits carry over to writing prompts for AI image generators.
Name the main subject first, then add style (for example photorealistic, digital art or anime), lighting (for example golden hour or cinematic), environment and detail. Describe what is actually in the image instead of guessing what the artist meant. You can use the hint if you are stuck. After each round, the prompt analysis shows which elements your prompt covered and missed compared with the target.
Yes. Your total joules move you through seven ranks, from Beginner to Legend. Your stats page tracks your progress, and playing on consecutive days builds a streak. The AI Games hub shows a global leaderboard, and the Daily Image Challenge offers a once-a-day image with its own ranking.
