RentPrompts Bounty Program

Overview

The RentPrompts Bounty Program lets community members fund and complete work in AI, ML, Gen AI, and software development. Creators post a bounty with a Joules reward; community members apply, do the work, and get paid. For a multi-milestone bounty, only the first milestone's reward is locked upfront — each later milestone is funded automatically as the one before it is released, so both sides always know exactly where the money is and what's actually guaranteed at every step.

How Bounties Work

1. Creating a bounty

• Any registered user can create a bounty. Each bounty must include a detailed task description, clear deliverables and acceptance criteria, a deadline, and a total Joules amount.
• The amount you enter is the total you pay — RentPrompts' 15% platform commission is taken from it, not added on top. A bounty posted at 1,00,000 Joules charges you 1,00,000 Joules in total; the bounty itself is published, shown to applicants, and paid out at 85,000 Joules (85%), with the remaining 15,000 Joules (15%) going to RentPrompts as commission. See Escrow and Payment below for exactly when each part is charged.
• The first milestone's share of that total must be available in the creator's Joules balance — that amount is deducted when the bounty is approved. Later milestones are funded automatically as the bounty progresses; the creator does not need the full amount on hand upfront.
• RentPrompts reviews every bounty and may approve or reject it for quality, safety, or policy reasons.
• Once a bounty is published and someone has applied, the creator cannot delete it. Deletion must be requested from an admin, and the admin's decision is final.

2. How reward milestones are calculated

• Larger rewards are split into milestones automatically, based on the total reward:

• By default the reward is split evenly, with any rounding remainder added to the final milestone.
• Bounties paid in 3 or more milestones can be sized by the creator, so a heavier milestone can carry more of the reward than a lighter one. Every milestone must still be worth at least 10% and no more than 40% of the total reward. Bounties paid in 1 or 2 milestones always use the even split.
• The 40% ceiling is the core protection for applicants: it means no applicant can ever have more than 40% of a bounty's value riding on a single unpaid milestone. The 10% floor keeps the first milestone — the only one funded at approval — meaningful.
• Creators do write a description for each milestone, so applicants know what each milestone must deliver, and what it pays, before they apply.
• Milestone amounts always add up to exactly the total reward. No Joules are added or lost in the split.
• The number of milestones is fixed when a bounty is approved. If the reward is later increased, the number of milestones does not change — the additional Joules are distributed across the milestones that have not yet started.

3. Applying

• Only registered members can apply. An application should include the proposed approach, relevant experience, and an estimated timeline.
• The creator reviews applications and approves the applicant or applicants they want to work with. Approval happens once, for the whole bounty, before work begins — not per milestone.
• A bounty may have more than one approved applicant. Applicants are notified on the platform.

4. Doing the work, submitting, and revisions

• All bounty communication must happen through the RentPrompts discussion tools, so there is a complete record if a dispute arises later.
• Work is submitted through the platform. Each applicant may make a maximum of 3 submissions per bounty, so revisions should be consolidated rather than sent piecemeal.
• The creator reviews each submission and either accepts it or rejects it with a reason. Once a submission is accepted, that acceptance is recorded with a timestamp.
• Work can only be submitted for a milestone once its Joules are actually held in escrow. If a milestone is awaiting funding (see Escrow and Payment below), submissions for it are paused until the creator funds it — so no one does work without a payment guarantee already in place.

Escrow and Payment

• Platform commission is taken from the total you enter, before anything is split into milestones. RentPrompts keeps 15% of the total Joules amount you post as its commission; the remaining 85% is the bounty's actual reward — the figure shown on the bounty, split into milestones, escrowed, and paid to applicants. Posting a 1,00,000 Joule bounty means RentPrompts keeps 15,000 and the bounty itself is worth 85,000 to whoever completes it. Applicants only ever see and receive the 85,000 figure; they are never shown, and never affected by, the larger total you entered.
• Milestone 1 is locked upfront. When a bounty is approved, the first milestone's share of your total — the 85%-reward portion plus its corresponding 15%-commission portion — is deducted from the creator's Joules balance and held (the reward portion in escrow, the commission portion collected immediately by RentPrompts). That is the only amount guaranteed before any work begins.
• Refunds return the commission along with the reward. If a milestone is refunded (for example, because the bounty is denied, expires with no applicant accepted, or an admin refunds it after an inactive-applicant report), the commission RentPrompts collected on that milestone is refunded to the creator along with it — nothing was delivered, so no fee is kept.
• Later milestones are funded automatically, one at a time. When a milestone is released to its applicant(s), RentPrompts automatically attempts to escrow the next milestone's share (reward plus its commission) from the creator's balance — the creator does not need their full total on hand upfront.
• A milestone cannot start without funding. If the creator's balance is too low when a milestone's turn comes, that milestone is paused as "awaiting funding" and applicants cannot submit work for it until the creator adds Joules and funds it. This never delays or reverses a milestone that has already been paid — an earlier payout is never withheld or reclaimed because a later milestone can't yet be funded.
• The creator is responsible for keeping enough balance to fund each milestone — including its commission — as it comes due. RentPrompts notifies the creator when a milestone needs funding; the bounty and its earlier progress stay intact in the meantime.
• Payment is released milestone by milestone, in order. Milestone 1 must be released before milestone 2, and so on. A milestone cannot be paid twice, and the total paid can never exceed the amount actually escrowed at that point.
• The creator decides who gets paid what. For each milestone, the creator allocates that milestone's amount across their approved applicants based on the work delivered. The allocation must add up to exactly that milestone's amount.
• Released Joules are credited to the recipient's balance immediately and recorded permanently.
• The bounty is marked complete once its final milestone is released.
• Once an applicant is approved, the bounty cannot be denied or withdrawn. Accepting an applicant is a commitment that they may already be acting on. From that point, any unresolved issue is handled as a dispute rather than a cancellation.
• What a creator may still change after approval. A milestone that is funded or already paid is fixed — its amount, and what it must deliver, cannot be edited. Milestones that have not started remain editable, so a creator can adjust scope as a project develops. Once an applicant has been accepted, those edits may only move in the applicant's favour: a milestone's amount cannot be reduced, its due date can only be extended, and its revision allowance can only be increased.
• The total reward can be increased, never reduced. On a live bounty the additional Joules go to milestones that have not yet started, within the same 10%–40% limits. Nothing is charged at the time of the increase — each milestone is funded when its turn comes. Once every milestone is funded or paid, the reward can no longer be changed at all.
• Applicants are notified when a milestone they have not yet started is re-scoped, re-dated, re-priced, or has its revision allowance changed — and are told they may withdraw if they no longer wish to continue on the new terms. Withdrawing is done from the bounty page and ends the ability to submit further work; it does not affect anything already released, and never reduces payment already earned. A creator may then approve a different applicant in their place.
• There is a limit to how far a reward can be raised. Because no single milestone may exceed 40% of the total, once some milestones are funded or paid the remaining ones can only absorb so much. The bounty form shows the maximum for that bounty. Beyond it, the extra work should be posted as a separate bounty.
• Once any milestone has been paid, its reward amount can no longer be changed and the bounty cannot be deleted. Joules already paid to an applicant cannot be reclaimed.
• If a bounty is denied or removed before any applicant is approved, the Joules escrowed so far — normally just the milestone in progress, not necessarily the full reward, plus the commission charged on it — are returned to the creator in full.
• If a bounty reaches its deadline without any applicant having been accepted, the Joules still held for its unstarted milestone, plus commission, are returned to the creator automatically. Where an applicant was accepted, the escrow stays in place rather than being returned, because work may have been delivered that is still owed payment — those cases are settled through the dispute process below.
• Every movement of Joules — escrow, release, and refund — is written to a permanent transaction record available to the relevant parties and to RentPrompts.

Disputes and Admin Mediation

• Applicants should first raise payment concerns with the creator directly through the platform discussion. Most delays are resolved this way.
• An approved applicant who has submitted work can report a bounty to RentPrompts admins once any of the following is true:
  • their accepted work has gone unpaid for 7 days;
  • a submission has gone unreviewed for 14 days — neither accepted nor rejected; or
  • the bounty deadline passed more than 7 days ago.
• The first condition matters on multi-milestone bounties: an early milestone can be finished and accepted long before the overall deadline, and an applicant does not have to wait for the deadline to report non-payment for it.
• The second exists so that a creator cannot leave an applicant stranded simply by never responding. Work that is neither accepted nor rejected becomes reportable in its own right.
• Milestones stuck awaiting funding. If a later milestone stays unfunded for an extended period after the one before it was released, the approved applicant can contact RentPrompts support directly to have the matter reviewed, even though no work could yet be submitted for it.
• A report records which milestone is disputed, so it is unambiguous what is owed. An applicant may have one open report at a time per bounty.
• Creators have the equivalent right in the other direction. Once a milestone is funded, a creator cannot simply reclaim it — that protection exists so an applicant can trust the money is there once they start. But it must have an end point: if the current milestone's due date (or the bounty deadline, if no milestone date was set) has passed by 7 days with no submission from the approved applicant, the creator can report them as inactive. This is not available while a submission for that milestone is awaiting review — that is reviewed and decided through the normal flow instead.
• Admins review an inactivity report the same way they review a non-payment report, and may refund that milestone's Joules to the creator where the evidence supports it. This never affects a milestone that has already been released, and a submission that arrives before an admin acts on the report is honoured — the report does not freeze the milestone by itself.
• Admin access for dispute resolution. To resolve a report fairly, RentPrompts admins can review the bounty, the submitted work, acceptance and rejection history, and the discussion between the parties. By participating in the program, creators and applicants consent to this access for dispute resolution.
• Both parties may be asked for supporting evidence. Admins can release a milestone's payment on the creator's behalf where the evidence supports it, or refund it to the creator where an inactivity report is upheld.
• Resolving a report closes only the milestone it concerns. Later milestones remain open and can be reported separately if payment is again withheld or an applicant goes inactive on them too.
• RentPrompts acts as an impartial mediator. Its decision is final and binding, so disputes are settled promptly.
• RentPrompts may withhold payment where there is evidence of fraud, plagiarism, or a breach of these terms.
• A bounty may be suspended pending review where RentPrompts has a specific concern — for example, content raised through a report. A suspended bounty is frozen: no edits, new applications, submissions, or payments happen until the review concludes. Anything already released beforehand is unaffected, and the creator and any approved applicants are notified of the reason. This exists as a distinct step short of denying the bounty outright, since a bounty already worked on cannot simply be denied and refunded once an applicant has been accepted.

General Terms

• The program is open to registered members who provide accurate account information.
• Bounties must be described with specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound criteria.
• Bounties and submissions must not contain offensive, illegal, harmful, or infringing content. This applies to every milestone's description, not only the bounty's main description — content is screened when a bounty is first submitted and again whenever a milestone that hasn't started is edited.
• Creating bounties with no intention of paying, submitting work you did not produce, spamming applications, or filing knowingly false reports are all breaches of these terms.
• RentPrompts may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms, including abusive conduct, non-delivery, or fraud.
• Members may stop participating at any time by notifying RentPrompts; outstanding commitments should be completed or handed over.
• RentPrompts may update these terms, with notice to the community. Material changes to escrow or payment rules will not be applied retroactively to bounties already in progress.

Additional Policies

1. Communication

• All bounty-related communication must go through the RentPrompts platform, for transparency and accountability.
• Members are expected to be professional and respectful. Harassment, abuse, and discriminatory behaviour are not tolerated.

2. Confidentiality

• Members must respect the confidentiality of information shared during a bounty, including proprietary information, trade secrets, and personal data.
• Breach of confidentiality may result in removal from the program and forfeiture of unpaid rewards.

3. Intellectual Property

• By participating, members agree that intellectual property created for a bounty transfers to the bounty creator, or to RentPrompts where applicable, on payment.
• Attribution is given where appropriate. Any licensing terms must be stated clearly in the bounty.

4. Liability

• Beyond its role in holding and releasing escrowed Joules and mediating disputes, RentPrompts is not liable for loss or damage arising from participation in the program.
• Members participate at their own risk and are responsible for complying with their local laws and tax obligations.

5. Feedback and Reviews

• Creators and hunters are encouraged to leave feedback after completion to help maintain quality across the program.
